Rush extends suspension of all activities

Hello Rush Families,

As the spread of the Corona virus continues and the requests for social distancing grows, our mission to provide a SAFEand ENJOYABLE environment for everyone to grow as players and people has yet again been postponed. The club has decided to extend the suspension of all activities until May 1st as a way of staying in line with the local organizations and health departments.

We would also like to take this opportunity to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the men and women that are on the front lines and providing care to those in need, as well as all the essential workers helping provide goods and services for our community. Please be safe!

Here is the latest update from St. Louis Youth Lacrosse Association:

Parents, Program Directors and Coaches,

As the coronavirus situation continues to evolve we still do not have enough information to make any firm decisions regarding spring lacrosse.  Guidance continues to change and the uncoordinated approach across the region creates additional challenges for the SLYLA Board.  Different school districts are now using different start dates and none of them match the federal guidelines announced on Monday.

So, what are we doing?  Over this last week, the SLYLA Board agreed to a timeline we will use to make decisions going forward.

For now, we are still planning on starting games the weekend of April 25-26 with the weekend of May 2-3 as the fall back start date.  The Board agreed that if we cannot start by the weekend of May 2-3, we will cancel the Spring Season and reimburse all team fees.   The Board will make the decision on the season by April 15th and will inform the community.

If we are able to start our season, the Board is planning on playing games Memorial Day Weekend and extending the season an additional week through the weekend of May 30-31.  Depending on the actual start date we would adjust team fees as well.  The Board also expects there will be significant restrictions on the number of spectators allowed on game days and possibly other types of restrictions.

Please be patient as we all work through this time of uncertainty.  I am cautiously optimistic that we will have better information and can start making firm decisions soon.

I will send out another update next week, April 6th.

I wish everyone the best of health during this time of uncertainty.  Please take the health situation seriously and take care of yourself, your loved ones, and the less fortunate in your community.

I hope to see everyone on the lacrosse field!

Dave Boots

SLYLA President

Thank you for your continued patience and support. Go Rush!
